Masvingo was founded in 1890 as the first permanent settlement for whites and has grown to a population of about 32,000 inhabitants. The growth of the town is largely due to its position on the main road linking Harare to South Africa.

This small town, formerly known as Fort Victoria, is linked to all the major cities by road and has its own airport which caters for domestic flights. Masvingo is the centre of a rich mining and agricultural area with several important minerals such as asbestos, lithium and copper being mined in the area. Masvingo golf club pictured here. |
