Beitbridge is a small town of about 6000 inhabitants which lies just north of the Limpopo River. It is walking distance from the Beit Bridge which spans the river and carries road and rail traffic to and from South Africa. Beitbridge is the port of entry to South Africa from Zimbabwe and was established in 1929 to facilitate the border post.
Beitbridge is located in the lowveld which has a low annual rainfall. Cattle and game ranching are the main activities carried out in the area.
